The following advice is focussed on ‘inactive’ adults with a long term condition aiming to do moderate intensity activities only. Remember that 2 minutes of moderate intensity activity gives you the same amount of health benefits as 1 minute of vigorous activity.
Any new high intensity vigorous activity for inactive adults with long term conditions is beyond the scope of these recommendations.
These recommendations are safe for the vast majority. Read through the ‘Safety considerations’ section of the recommendation to help you practice activity
safely. You should consult your doctor if you have any new symptoms (such as shortness of breath, chest pain, dizziness) or your long term health condition
is severe or poorly controlled. The Physical Activity Readiness Questionnaire (PAR-Q) may be useful if you are not sure on this.
